Web statistics
Your Web statistics can tell you much more than how many visitors come to your site. They can tell you why they come. Almost every analytics package will give you a list of search terms that people have used to find you. Consider the following:
- Are people searching for your brand name? If so, that's great. You've done a good job branding.
- Are they searching for specific products or broad categories? The more specific searches are, the more likely it is that people are ready to buy.
- If they are searching for multiple products, which ones are most popular? This may give you clues to the best product mix.
- If people are searching for specific products, but not buying, your page may not be doing a good job of converting them.
- Are people finding your site with search terms that are irrelevant to your business? Examine your Web page copy and adjust it if necessary.
